The Welsh Black or Welsh Black cattle is a breed of cattle from Wales in Great Britain. As the name suggests, the cattle are black. As a rule, they have horns, but there are also individual hornless lines. There are also individual red specimens of the breed. This breed of cattle is a beef breed that is kept outdoors all year round. Its particularly finely marbled meat with a high proportion of its own flavour is used above all in upscale restaurants. Weighing an average of 35 kg at birth, cows reach a weight of 650 to 800 kg when fully grown, bulls 900 to 1250 kg. In the meantime, the herd consists of 23 cattle, which stand on different meadows.
As an old agricultural family and in particular the senior boss Udo Fuhrhop, we have been involved in the breeding of these extraordinary animals since 2010.
The background to this, apart from the fact that we farm our own land, is the regional sourcing of local products. In addition to trout, potatoes, asparagus, water, eggs, honey, cheese, sausage, blueberries, apples and our own beer, our Welsh Black cattle are the ideal addition to the regional range.
